Sen. Sheila Leslie and Assemblywoman Debbie Smith Discuss Game-Changing Races!

State Senator Sheila Leslie and Assemblywoman Debbie Smith will be back at Party Headquarters on Tuesday, March 6 to discuss their state Senate races; game-changers in terms of who will control the State Senate in 2012.

Sheila made the bold decision to resign the safest Senate seat outside of Clark County to run against Republican Greg Brower, who was appointed to fill Bill Raggio’s seat when he resigned mid-term.  Debbie then announced that she will run for Sheila's old Senate seat.  We've yet to hear from a Republican willing to oppose Debbie.  

Sheila has been our progressive leader in the state legislature for years.  If she is willing to leave her safe seat and run in what will be a tight race to keep the right wing from taking over the State Senate, then we need to be there for her and Debbie so we make a net gain in the State Senate.  

And, of course, we'll need to have the back of the Democrat who runs for Debbie's current Assembly seat.

Much work to be done in 2012, WashoeDEMS. We'll need all hands on deck to keep the state Senate out of the hands of the right-wing regressives!

For someone brand new to the state Senate, Mr. Brower certainly got a lot of media attention as the Nevada State Democratic Party points out in the press release below.
