More than 12,000 people gathered in school gyms and other public places last Saturday, energized and organized to re-elect President Obama and Democrats all the way down the ticket in 2012.

Attendance was great in Washoe County, where hundreds of people signed up as delegates to the county convention!

It is going to be an exciting year as we rally to elect Shelley Berkley to the U.S. Senate, re-elect our Democratic incumbents to the state legislature, and elect more Democrats to our local councils, boards, and commissions.

One of our active Dems reported that, in spite of intermittent snow showers, there was a standing room only crowd of more than 100 voters at Clayton Middle School in Northwest Reno. After lively introductions from Kathleen Eagan and Olivia Gobert-Hicks, Commissioner Kitty Jung and Assemblyman David Bobzien welcomed their neighbors and thanked them for participating in this grassroots exercise. In one of the 12 precincts that split up in separate areas, there was a 100% vote for President Obama and an enthusiastic group of 10 signed up for the County Convention. One gentleman was passionate about adding suggestions to our Platform. These procedures are just the beginning of a busy year ahead to make sure that the Party base is “in” for the President.
