Antonio Villaraigosa speaks to WashoeDEMS volunteers & the media
RENO — The mayor of the second largest city in the U.S. talks to volunteers of the Democratic Party of Washoe County (WashoeDEMS) at Headquarters, prior to the 2011 Virginia Demmler Honor Roll Dinner.

After the media interviews and volunteer meeting, the dinner will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m., at Circus-Circus Hotel Casino, with a talk by the Mayor until 7:15 p.m., followed by introductions of the four honored volunteers. More than 300 attendees are expected, included elected officials.

Villaraigosa is in his second term as Los Angeles Mayor and is president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. He was the California State Assemblyman for the 45th District, Speaker of the California State Assembly and Los Angeles City Councilman for the 14th District. A former labor organizer and progressive grassroots volunteer, he served as national co-chairman of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign and as a member of President Barack Obama’s Transition Economic Advisory Board.
The DEMS volunteer honorees are: Michael Haley, long-time supporter; Connie Howard, former development officer for UNR and the WashoeDEMS; Todd Koch, president, Building Trades Council and Central Labor Council; and Mark Tadder, WashoeDEMS Webmaster.
